You Can Heal Your Life (YCHYL)
Welcome to your very own personal counseling session with the wise spiritual self help teacher, Louise L. Hay. Louise teaches principles from ancient spiritual laws and New Thought in You Can Heal Your Life (YCHYL), which are not always found in traditional self help books. If you are ready to go beyond the ideas found in traditional self help, then YCHYL is a great place to start.
The theme of YCHYL is self empowerment and healing. Louise stresses if you are unhappy with your life, then you can do something about it. In part one of the book, Louise takes us on a powerful journey of exploring our deeply held hidden thoughts, which have been responsible for creating our life experiences up to this point. She teaches us that thoughts can be changed through a series of insightful exercises that help us to identify our thoughts and reconsider them. If we are willing to change our thoughts, then we can change our lives. She gently offers suggestions of how we can work on the process of letting go of limiting beliefs and other emotional blocks that keep us from living a better life. She addresses barriers to change that we will need to work through during the process. She stresses the importance of forgiveness and learning to love ourselves. Louise challenges her readers to take control of what thoughts they allow to dwell within their minds. This book will start you on a powerful journey of changing your life. Changing your thoughts is definitely an ongoing process that will require you to revisit the exercises and continue to work on identifying and clearing away deeper layers of limiting thoughts.
The second part of the book helps us to understand the powerful connection between our thoughts and specific ailments. Louise offers a comprehensive listing of ailments from A to Z with a limiting thought pattern that likely creates the disease and a healing thought to improve health. We may not be aware that we have certain thought patterns until an ailment arises is one of Louise's premises. Her ideas about health will definitely challenge us to dig deeper and really examine the connection between our thoughts and our health.
Louise writes in an honest, conversational style that makes the reader feel like they are actually working with her. Her tone is gentle and loving instead of blaming. She is always encouraging her readers to believe that change is possible if they are willing to work with their thoughts. This book is a mainstay in my personal growth library.
