If I told you that you are at the right place, at the right time and doing the right thing in your life, what would you think? Most of us would doubt this reasoning. How can this be true, particularly is we are unhappy with some part of our lives? We all have a vision for where we want to be and what we want to be doing with our lives. Rarely does our current circumstances completely mirror our vision of what we want for ourselves. How can there be a rightness of where we are?

I first came across this teaching in a passage from Louise L. Hay's book,The Power is Within You, about how we are always at the right place, at the right time and doing the right thing. Louise's teaching was timely for me because a friend had expressed frustration about renewing his apartment lease. As much as he loved his community, he longed for more space and privacy that a house would offer him. His goal to live in a house had not come to fruition yet, after five years. His lease renewal was a painful reminder that he had fallen short of his goal.

After thinking about Louise Hay's teaching, I suggested that my friend take a different perspective about renewing his lease for another year. He could not question why he was still in his current home instead of living in his dream house. His apartment community was where he needs to be for now. He may not understand all the reasons why he is still there, but he simply has to learn to trust life. Living in his current home is serving him in a way that he does not understand yet. My friend can choose to trust and have faith that he is there for a reason rather than be angry and frustrated about it. His community has something more for him to discover and use that will aid him with his career and personal goals.

As much as we desire to move on from where are emotionally or physically, we may not be ready to move on. We may think we are ready, but the Creator knows that we are not. We have to stay in our current emotional or physical place longer to emotionally get ready to move on. During this time when we desire change, we need to rely on faith and trust that the means or opportunity will open up for us to move on. It is so easy to believe that we are being denied or turned down. We may even believe that we are being punished for something that we did in the past. We may doubt if we can ever get what we want. During this time, it is unwise to give into our doubt. We have hold steady in our belief that we will eventually move on, even if we do not know exactly when or how. It is so wise to become even more curious about what lessons are for us where we are at now instead of focusing on where we want to go next.

We simply have to step back and trust the Creator's judgment, when we find ourselves staying put instead of moving on. Not getting what we want now does not mean that we will never get what we want in the future. It is so much wiser to believe that being where we are is where we need to be now and when being here is not right for us, then a new path will open up for us to move on. We may think we have all the answers about what is right for us and the big picture of where we want our lives to move toward, but we really only know a small part of the picture. We have to trust God's wisdom and know that He has our best interest in mind at all times. Our job is to work with our current circumstances and make the most of them. There is no reason to feel blocked or denied by life. We can still see ourselves as hugely blessed to be where we are.

Think about your current life and your circumstances. Maybe it is time to stop cursing and being angry about your current lot in life. You are where you are to learn something valuable that will help you grow as a person. You always have the choice to accept or reject what is happening in your life. Accepting the rightness of where we are does not mean that we are giving up or settling for less. We simply realize that fighting where we are will only keep us connected to it instead of allowing us to move forward.

If you could learn to see the rightness of where you are, even if you desire to move on to a new emotional or physical place, you could get more out of your current situation. You could see how where you are, is serving you instead of holding you back. You could begin to look for ways how your current situation actually supports and serves you. You could discover the opportunities and benefits available to you right where you are.

If we can learn to see the rightness of where we are, then there is no need to struggle and fight with where we are any more. We simply need to surrender and trust that God has a plan for us. Where we are is serving us in some way that is beyond our current understanding. It is preparing us for whatever is next for us. Just because we may not know the specifics of the plan does not mean that God does not have a plan for us. We simply have to learn to trust and pay attention to what opportunities come our way.

If we get so emotionally caught up in questioning and wondering why we are not moving to where we want to be, we will miss the opportunity to see how our current situation is serving us now. When we question, we are saying that we really do not trust life. We believe that life is against us instead of supporting us. Our job is to get out the way and learn to trust our lives. There are no missed opportunities or blocked opportunities within our lives. Every circumstance is always creating benefits for our growth. If we can allow ourselves to believe in the rightness of where we are, then we can open ourselves up to seeing the lessons and opportunities of our current circumstances.
