Sometimes, we spend a great deal of our lives wanting more than what we have. We envy those who seem to have it all. We neglect to see just how rich our lives really are right now. Everyday that we wake up is a blessing. Every day that we have freedom--the freedom to choose our own destiny and the opportunity to pursue our dreams is another blessing. The tender moments with our children and loved ones are also true blessings. We have more opportunities and choices than ever in history. We have more opportunities to be healthy and well than ever.

We focus our attention on what we do not like about lives. We easily think about what is missing. I know a lady who always likes to think about how her life could be better instead of appreciating what is already great in her life at this moment. She always feels like her life is wrong or feels like she is being denied of what she wants most in life. The more we complain, we are attracting more of what we do not want in life. We also lose sight of what blessings we actually do have within our lives right now. We always have blessings within our lives, even during difficult times.

It is okay to aspire and wish for more in life. Dreams give us something great to work toward achieving for ourselves. It is wise to learn how to create a balance between appreciating what we already have and creating a vision for getting more out of life. The more we focus on all that we have going for us now, we are opening ourselves up to receive even more blessings and abundance in the future. It is emotionally easier to come from a place of gratitude and abundance within our thoughts than from lack and limitation. The more we recognize the fullness of our lives now, we have motivation to keep adding and expanding on that fullness.

Often, we want it all now. We may not be ready to have it all now. Trust that if you have not received what you want yet that there is a reason that benefits you. Life is not trying to deny you ever. Maybe, you need to learn a few more lessons or do more preparation before you are ready to get what you want. Maybe, it is not the right time for you to receive it. Just continue to have faith that you will get what you want when the timing is right for you. Appreciate yourself and your life at this moment. Focus on what you have instead of what you think is lacking or wrong in your life. Every day, challenge yourself to focus on something that is working well in your life. Be thankful for that one thing.

Being grateful means not comparing your life experience with somebody else's experience. Other people's lives may appear to be easier or rosier than our own, but we are always on the outside looking in. Appearances can be deceiving. Our job is not compare experiences and judge them in any way. Life is about cycles of joy and cycles of difficulty. We may be experiencing a cycle of difficulty while another person is experiencing a cycle of joy. Cycles always shift so we have to hold steady in our belief that our cycle of difficulty will shift to better days. Life is never working against us and working for someone else. We will all experience the different cycles of life at some point. We must remember that cycles of difficulty will come and go. Finding something within our lives to be grateful about will help us to keep a cycle of difficulty in perspective as a temporary phase. We will survive difficulty and gain something positive from it.

Being grateful also helps our minds to stay in tune with the present moment instead of focusing on the distant future. We do not know all the expected and unexpected opportunities that will come to us in the future and help us to create more of what we want in life. We just have to trust that we will get more of what we want when the Creator believes that we are ready to receive it.

Keep challenging yourself to discover what is working well in your life, even if it is the smallest and most ordinary thing. Never take anything for granted. Be grateful for everything. The more often we appreciate what we have and all the richness of our lives now, we attract more opportunities and more of what we want in life. Be grateful for your current life, even if you know that you are not living your greatest life yet. Know that the best is yet to come.
